Tomorrow she beats the dust again
In the video, the protagonist (the artist as performer) beats dust with an orange and vermilion dyed dust cloth in Cairo. Dust is beaten there. Vermilion triggered a process of engagement not only with the colour, but with the term vermilion and its possible origins and meaning. Is “beating dust” nonsensical or worthless, one’s own self, memory worthless? The video was shown at the Künstlerhaus Stuttgart in the group exhibition Zinnober.
